Services We Provide

Examinations
Sexual Assault Forensic Exam / Child Abuse Resource Education (SAFE/CARE) is provided by certified SAFE/CARE medical examiners to children who have been physically and sexually abused.  Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) care is provided locally by specially trained nurse providers to adults who have been sexually assaulted/raped.

Forensic Interviews
Child and adult abuse victims are interviewed at the NASV facility by specially trained personnel while members of the investigative team observe via closed circuit television.  This allows all of the appropriate parties to have their questions answered at one time, thus avoiding duplication of interviews and revictimization.

Victims’ Advocacy
Family members/children can work with a victims’ advocate to help them understand their rights, as related to the criminal justice system.  The advocate also provides case management services to victims and their families.

Prevention Education
Sexual abuse prevention programs are provided to children in schools, churches and other youth organizations for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades.  NASV also provides training programs for parents, grandparents and caretakers who focus on recognizing and reporting child abuse in addition to programs for professionals who work with children.  Mandated reporter classes are offered to schools, churches and civic organizations to address Missouri mandated reporter laws.

Counseling
Licensed therapists work with abuse victims and their families to deal with the trauma associated with sexual violence.  Each client develops an individual treatment plan to address his/her own goals around their healing.
