Summer 2009 Sexual Violence Information Training

The Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence, Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Criminal Justice & Sociology & The Susanna Wesley Family Resource Center co-sponsored the Summer 2009 Sexual Violence Information Training Seminar on July 14 & 15.  With over 120 total participants from all over Southeast Missouri, the seminar was a huge success and brought some much needed information to the area.  NASV invited three keynote speakers with extensive knowledge in their respective fields to lead the conference.

Mr. Chris Ragsdale, MSW, is the Licensed Clinical Social Worker and forensic interviewer for the Levine Children's Hospital's Pediatric Resource Center in  Charlotte, North Carolina.  Mr. Ragsdale gave team members many valuable tips as to Interviewing the Non-Offending Caregiver.  Bibliographies will be posted shortly with several source documents from Mr. Ragsdale's presentation and research articles to get more information. 

Ms. Jodi B. Rafkin is the Program Attorney for the Stalking Resource Center in Washington, DC.  The mission of the Stalking Awareness Resource Center is to raise national awareness about stalking and to encourage the development and implementation of multidisciplinary responses to stalking in local communities across the country.  Ms. Rafkin's presentation was informational as well as practical with many resources identified for anyone working with victims of stalking.

Sergeant Mark J. Wojnarek is the program director for the Sheriff's Offices Special Victims' Unit and Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Mark also presented fantastic information about stalking.  And more specifically, cyber-stalking.  WIth the ever changing technology today, Mark's message is essential to law enforcement officers.

The Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence, Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Criminal Justice & Sociology & The Susanna Wesley Family Resource Center are sponsoring the Summer 2009 Sexual Violence Information Training Seminar.  For the participants' convenience, each training session will be available at 2 different times in 2 different locations:
